Our Story

Austin and I have known each other since we were little, as he used to be direct neighbors with my cousins. We would trick or treat together and one time went on a family ski vacation. I had one memory from this vacation which included Austin (he was probably 12 at the time) ordering crab legs at a restaurant and me (probably 7 at the time) trying to be helpful by cracking the crab legs and giving him the meat from them. Austin was praising me saying things like “oh my gosh, you are SO HELPFUL!” and “THANK YOU SO MUCH!” and I remember as that little girl, just how kind he treated me. 

Fast forward to September 2023 and we ended up reconnecting at a wedding where he was there for the bride and I was there for the groom. I approached him (with a little bit of liquid courage) and shared the crab legs story which he thought was hilarious, and then we instantly hit it off, geeking out over our love for science. (I’m an 8th grade science teacher and he used to be a chemist, but now is a general manager at his family’s chemical business). He told me he used to do science demonstrations for his friend’s classes at Olentangy and offered to come into my classroom to do the same. This man then gave me his BUSINESS CARD that he conveniently had in his “trade show jacket” pocket so we could talk about it more. I followed him on social media a couple days later, and then he messaged me saying it was "great reconnecting with me," and we’ve basically been inseparable ever since!

He asked me out on our first date on October 12, 2023, we were officially dating by October 26, 2023, and he did the science demonstrations for my classes on October 27, 2023. We got engaged on June 23, 2025 while walking out to the dock to watch the beautiful sunset at his family’s beautiful property in Nova Scotia, Canada.
